The City of Charlottetown tabled a parks master plan in 2008, after a lengthy public consultation process in the Fall of 2006 and into 2007. This plan is a thorough assessment of the needs and interests in our community. It’s recommended actions are presented in six campaigns for park excellence. The campaign areas are as follows: Showcase City Core Parks; Creating First Class Sporting Venues; Forest Parks; Green Infrastructure Neighborhood and District Parks; and Park connections (Trails). The Parks and Recreation Department uses this plan as an important planning tool in the allocation of resources to this very important infrastructure. Thank you to all interest groups and individual citizens who participated in this planning process and provided valuable insight into the future of our parks system.
