As per the Charlottetown Area Municipalities Act Section 19. (1), the mayor may appoint from among members of City Council, any standing committees consisting of such number of persons the mayor considers appropriate for (a) the better transaction of the business before Council: and (b) the discharge of any duty within the scope of the committee’s power.
