2015-03-24 - Charlottetown Mayor Congratulates Enactus UPEI on Its Success

Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee wishes to congratulate Enactus UPEI for its recent success at the regional Scotiabank Ecoliving Challenge. The non-profit organization has earned the right to showcase its ideas on a national stage at the upcoming Enactus Canada expo in Toronto, which takes place in May.
"The students involved in Enactus UPEI have a passion to make a difference in our community," Mayor Lee said. "Their efforts continue to engage youth in projects that have a focus on economic, environmental and sustainable impacts. Engaging youth is one of our priorities and it is heartening to see community groups with a similar focus. On behalf of members of Council, I wish the students all the best in their endeavours."

Enactus UPEI’s latest project, Treeternity, aims to shift the community’s cultural views of the environment. It involves environmentally themed presentations to Grade 5 and 6 Island students. Select classes are asked to participate in tree planting activities. The hands-on learning experience includes a partnership with the Province to tackle the reforestation of land surrounding the Trans Canada Highway Realignment project in the Bonshaw area.
