Chefs de Mission for the nine delegations participating in the 2015 Jeux de l’Acadie (Acadian Games) will be meeting in Charlottetown on April 18-19 for an official visit before the Games.
"The Mission Staff meeting represents an important step in the organization of the Games," said Émile Gallant, President of the organizing committee for the 2015 edition of the Jeux de l’Acadie. "It’s during this meeting that delegations have a chance to visit the sites, meet the members of the organizing committee, and make their particular needs known."
During the Games, which take place from June 26-30, the following delegations will be joining the Prince Edward Island delegation: the Chaleur, Kent, Madawaska-Victoria, Acadian Peninsula, Restigouche and South-East regions of New Brunswick; Nova Scotia; and Newfoundland and Labrador. A delegation from the Magdalen Islands will also be participating as a guest delegation.
"As Chefs de Mission, it’s our job to offer the best possible experience to our young participants and to ensure their well-being during the Games," said Julie Gilman, Chef de Mission for the Prince Edward Island delegation. "It’s therefore important that all Chefs de Mission familiarize themselves with the various sites, accommodations and transportation logistics in place."
The City of Charlottetown is the host city for the 2015 Jeux de l’Acadie. The sporting and cultural events will be taking place at various locations including the Eastlink Centre, University of Prince Edward Island, CARI Complex, Colonel Gray and Charlottetown Rural high schools, Simmons Sports Centre, East and West Royalty soccer fields, and Holland College.
