The City of Charlottetown has something for everyone at its upcoming Canada Day celebrations on Wednesday, July 1. Victoria Park will come alive with music, children’s activities, and fun for the whole family beginning with the Official Ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. and ending with a spectacular fireworks display at 10 p.m.
"We are pleased to be offering 10 hours of live entertainment showcasing Island talent, followed by one of Canada’s largest fireworks displays for Canada Day," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "I hope all Islanders and visitors will join us at Victoria Park to celebrate our nation’s birthday in the Capital City – the Birthplace of Confederation."
Family activities in Victoria Park will include: balloon twisting, face painting, bouncy rides, horse and wagon Rides, a petting zoo, and a food vending area. The Victoria Park swimming pool, splashpad and playground will also be available for use.
The 10-hour live outdoor concert will include performances by: Mi’Maq Legends, Amy and Rachel Back, The Woodpeckers, Teresa Doyle and Patrick Bunston, Yakbak, Copy Cat, Lady Soul, Coyote, Gordon Belsher, Courtney Hogan-Chandler and Todd MacLean, and More Soul.
"We have such amazing talent on this Island and we’re thrilled to be able to provide an opportunity for everyone to experience it," said Deputy Mayor Mike Duffy. "In addition to encouraging the public to attend, I want to thank our community partners and sponsors, as well as City staff and our Tourism Department for making this event possible each year."
