The replacement of the City of Charlottetown Victoria Park Boardwalk starts today (September 21). Construction is beginning on the section closest to Brighton Road, by the Victoria Park Pool. The work will be done in 1,500-foot sections in order to keep most of the boardwalk open to pedestrians. Signage will be in place to direct the public around the construction zone.
The work on the boardwalk is expected to take place until the end of November. The scope of the work includes: removal of the old boardwalk; improving the drainage; upgrading the stringers; upgrading the decking to a marine-grade lumber; widening the boardwalk from eight feet to 10 feet; and upgrading the material below and behind the benches.
