2015-12-04 - City Buzzing with Wintertide Holiday Festival Activities This Weekend

The City of Charlottetown Wintertide Holiday Festival is in full swing with the first of two Christmas concerts taking place tonight (December 4) along with the start of the Victorian Christmas Weekend.

A John Gracie Christmas will take place at 7 p.m. this evening at Trinity United Church, featuring ECMA artist John Gracie.

A Christmas to Remember takes place Saturday, December 5, featuring heart-warming holiday music and Christmas stories performed by popular Island artists Joey Kitson, Catherine O'Brien, Caroline Bernard, Alan Buchanan, Don Fraser, The Reindeer Express Band and other special guests. Tickets for both of these concerts have been distributed. Ticket holders who are no longer able to attend are encouraged to offer the free tickets to someone else.

Charlottetown residents are reminded that the Wintertide Festive Door Decorating Contest registrations are due by 12 p.m. on Monday, December 7. Judging will take place on Tuesday, December 8 (weather pending). Residents interested in participating in the contest must register by calling 902-566-5548 or emailing city@charlottetown.ca (Attn: Wintertide Festive Door Decorating Contest).

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to take extra caution when travelling in downtown Charlottetown during the evening of Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5, as horse-drawn wagons will be on the following streets: Great George Street, Prince Street, Grafton Street, Queen Street, Fitzroy Street, Pownal Street, Rochford Street, Haviland Street, and Water Street.
