Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee has been selected to participate on a panel at the 2017 Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Sport Event Congress. The session is titled, "Keeping It Real with Elected Officials" and will include Mayor Jim Watson of the City of Ottawa and Mayor Greg Krischke of the City of Leduc.
This much anticipated panel will be moderated by Charmaine Crooks, five-time Olympian and Olympic Silver Medalist and will include the experiences and rationale each of the mayors have when supporting bids and hosting events in their communities. The audience will learn what they have to balance in their decision making as they look at the long-term effects on their community and on taxes.
Mayor Lee, who presents on Tuesday, March 21, said he is humbled to have been selected to participate.
"Having the opportunity to represent Charlottetown on the national stage will further reinforce our reputation as a successful sport hosting destination," Mayor Lee said. "Charlottetown is nationally recognized as a leader in sport tourism and I'm proud of our many accomplishments, especially our three Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance PRESTIGE Awards."
