2016-08-05 - Schedule set for largest field of teams at U-18 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship

Tickets go on sale Monday morning at Central Field Complex

The schedule has been set for the 2016 U-18 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship. With 21 teams participating, it’s the largest softball event hosted in Charlottetown to date.

The event schedule includes 63 round-robin games, followed by 24 play-off games. Prince Edward Island’s is represented by the West Royalty Remax Ravens.

"Our organizing committee has been busily planning for this event since last year and we are so excited for the first pitch to be thrown Monday morning," said local organizing committee chair Carol Mayne. "It’s going to be a great week of competitive women’s softball and I encourage everyone to come out and support PEI’s host team, the Remax Ravens, as they take on the rest of the county."
The Remax Ravens' opening game takes place Monday at 12:00pm at Central Field Complex against the BC Renegades 98. The opening ceremony will take place later that evening at 6:30pm at Central Field Complex (diamond 1), prior to the Raven’s second game of the day against regional rival Moncton Rebels.

Islanders and softball fans can take in the event a number of ways. Full event passes ($49), single day adult passes ($10) and single day student and senior passes ($5) all go on sale Monday, August 8 at 8:00am at Central Field Complex box office.

As the one of the largest Softball Canada events in the country, the Championship will bring together over 500 athletes, coaches and support staff representing 10 Canadian provinces all competing for the national title. Taking place August 8th through 14th at Central Field Complex and City Diamond in Charlottetown, the 7-day event will also attract hundreds of fans, family and friends from across the country to cheer on some of Canada’s best up-and-coming female softball players.
