The City of Charlottetown's 18th annual Christmas Parade will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 26. The parade is a fun-filled evening event with festive lights and music.

The parade leaves the UPEI campus on University Avenue and travels to Grafton Street. It turns right on Grafton, then right on West Street. It will end at the Provincial Government building parking lot.

In order to accommodate the parade, the following streets will be closed to traffic from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. (or until the conclusion of the event) with no parking permitted from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on November 26:

• University Avenue from Enman Crescent to Euston Street;
• Great George Street from Euston Street to Grafton Street;
• Grafton Street from Prince Street to West Street;
• West Street from Grafton Street to Kent Street;
• Kent Street from West Street to Terry Fox Drive;

Anyone parked on the above mentioned streets after 4 p.m. on November 26 will have to wait until after the parade is over to move their vehicles.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., donations will be collected for the Food Bank along the parade route. Canada Post representatives will also be collecting letters to Santa Claus. As in previous years, parents/guardians are asked to keep their children safely off of the street during the parade.

A pre-parade party will be held at the Confederation Court Mall from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. There will be free balloon twisting, and antler hats (while supplies last). After the parade, drop into the Charlottetown Mall from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. to meet Santa Claus.

Questions about the parade can be directed to the City of Charlottetown Tourism Department at: 902-629-4117 or emailing dhurry@charlottetown.ca

The annual Christmas Parade is one of many events included in the City of Charlottetown's annual Wintertide Holiday Festival.  The events are a collection of seasonal celebrations and recreational activities taking place from November 2016 until January 2017. The events are coordinated by the City of Charlottetown, community organizations, groups and residents. The festival also adds spirit and sparkle to Charlottetown's nighttime sky through the thousands of lights presented in seasonally themed displays in the Capital region.
