2017-02-15 - Charlottetown Hosting Walk in Silence for Victims of Family Violence

The 8th annual Walk in Silence for Victims of Family Violence will take place today (February 15) in Charlottetown from 12 - 12:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at City Hall.

The Walk in Silence for Victims of Family Violence is a symbolic gesture to give a voice to family violence victims who may remain silent out of fear or other reasons. The walk brings together Islanders and representatives from many interested groups and professions to show their commitment and support for Island families by working to prevent family violence.

The silent walk will begin at Province House in Charlottetown at 12 p.m. on February 15 and end with the reception at City Hall at approximately 12:30 p.m. The bell tower of City Hall will be lit purple for the week to recognize Family Violence Prevention Week.

Resource information on Family Violence prevention will be made available at the reception. The event is free and all are welcome to attend.

For more information on Family Violence Prevention initiatives, visit: www.fvps.ca or contact PEI Family Violence Services, Inc. at 902-894-3354 ext. 221.
