Select a toilet(s) that has a flush volume of no more than 6L/flush (1.6 gallons/flush) from the approved list
Dispose of your old toilet at Green Isle disposal facility (8 Superior Cres., Charlottetown) and request a receipt that specifies that you disposed of a toilet – Make sure you keep your receipt!
Return the completed application form with original sales receipt(s) and disposal receipt(s) in person to:
Water & Sewer Utility Desk, City Hall, 199 Queen St., Charlottetown
A representative from Charlottetown Water & Sewer will conduct an in-home inspection of the installed toilet to ensure it fits the program criteria*. We will set up a time for inspection after January 3rd, 2012.
If approved, you will receive a rebate in the mail.
Be sure to include your water account number in your application. We recommend that you make a copy of your completed application form and receipt(s) for your own records. Please do not fax applications.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the program you must:
Own a single-family residence in the City of Charlottetown (includes detached houses, semis, duplexes, individual condos and townhouses)
Own a multi-unit building in Charlottetown
Own a business in the City of Charlottetown
Have a water and/or sewer account with the City and be a customer in good standing
Be replacing an existing toilet(s) with a flush volume of 13 litres/flush or more (50 gallons/flush)
What rebates are available?
Two rebate rates are available based on the toilet you choose:
$60 rebate for installation of a 6L/flush toilet (1.6 gallons/flush)
$75 rebate for installation of a high-efficiency dual-flush toilet or 4.8L/flush toilet (1.28 gallons/flush) How many rebates can I get?
A maximum of two rebates are available per household or business or multi-unit building
A limited number of rebates are available
Rebates will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis
Please note:
Application must be submitted within 6 months of purchase date
Rebates shall not exceed the purchase price of the eligible toilet and shall be repaid to the City should the purchaser return the toilet
The City of Charlottetown will not honour rebates for toilets that do not have a flush volume of 6L or less. Please verify that you have bought the correct model.
Terms and Conditions
In consideration of receiving the rebate under this Residential Toilet Rebate Program, the undersigned Applicant acknowledges and agrees:
THAT the City of Charlottetown is not responsible for the selection, installation or operation of the toilets; the City of Charlottetown does not endorse specific brands, products, or dealers; nor does it guarantee materials, workmanship, performance, or durability of the qualifying items.
THAT the toilet must be a new, water efficient model (6L/flush or less) and must be installed in a residence or business located in the City of Charlottetown;
THAT the Applicant shall provide the City of Charlottetown or its agent with reasonable access to the toilet, that the City of Charlottetown or its agent will inspect any residence/business participating in this Program in order to verify the installation of the water efficient toilet and eligibility of the same, and that the City of Charlottetown or its agent may access utility billing account information for the purpose of monitoring water and energy consumption (for metered customers);
THAT the City of Charlottetown does not guarantee or warrant the toilet or its installation, the performance, freedom from defects, quality of workmanship or suitability of the toilet or any installation thereof for any purpose, or the suitability of the premises for installation. Further, the Applicant acknowledges and agrees to assume any and all costs of the installation or any alterations necessary for the proper installation of the toilet;
TO indemnify, save and hold harmless the City of Charlottetown, and its agents, officials, officers, councillors and employees (collectively, the agents) against all liability, loss, costs, damages, and expenses, causes of action, actions, claims, demands, lawsuits and other proceedings, by whomever made, sustained, brought or prosecuted, including by third parties, involving bodily injury, death, personal injury, and property damage, in any way based upon, occasioned by or attributable to the Applicant’s participation in this Program, including any negligence on the part of the City of Charlottetown, or its agents; and
TO refund such rebate to the City of Charlottetown on request, if this application contains any material misstatement or misrepresentation on such Applicant’s behalf, or if the Applicant breaches any of these terms or conditions;
THAT the City of Charlottetown reserves the right to change or cancel the program at any time.
