The City of Charlottetown's annual Wintertide Holiday Festival is a collection of the many seasonal celebrations, activities and events taking place from November 20, 2015 to January 3, 2016.

The Wintertide Holiday Festival also adds spirit and sparkle to Charlottetown's nighttime sky through the thousands of lights presented in seasonally themed displays.

The 2015-16 edition of the Wintertide Holiday Festival Calendar of Events is a collection of the many seasonal events and activities being coordinated by the City of Charlottetown, community organizations, groups and residents for all to enjoy!

Wintertide Holiday Festival Calendar of Events

Seasonal celebrations, activities, events, goodwill giving and community support programs listed in the Wintertide Holiday Festival Calendar of Events are but a highlight of some of the scheduled programming taking place in the city over the next several weeks, beginning November 20.

Print copies will also be available at the following locations beginning the afternoon of November 20:

  • Wintertide Holiday Festival Opening Ceremony and Tree Lighting (evening of November 20)
  • City of Charlottetown Tourism Department
  • Confederation Centre of the Arts (Atrium off Queen Street)

Wintertide Festive Door Decorating Contest - Register by December 7

Charlottetown residents are invited to participate in the holiday season and share in the magical spirit with your neighbours and family by decorating your front door entryway.

Residents interested in participating in the Wintertide Festive Door Decorating Contest must register by 12 p.m. on Monday, December 7. Judging will take place on Tuesday, December 8 (weather pending).

Capital New Year in the Park - December 31

Join Mayor Clifford Lee and Charlottetown City Council for this free public celebration to mark the passage into the New Year and wish for peace for all. Bring your family and friends to Victoria Park for sleigh rides, refreshments, musical entertainment, a small fireworks display and lots of holiday fun.

Don't forget to dress warmly, and feel free to bring a flashlight, party hats and noisemakers for this festive celebration!

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with sleigh rides taking place until 6:30 p.m. A Prayer for Peace and the Countdown for the New Year begins at 7 p.m.

(A further announcement will be made in the event of inclement weather).
